Good Thing Shaq's Not Trying This. It Would Take Several Decades
-
Dave Cummings is at the halfway mark now. Halfway to what? Halfway to a million free throws. He started on Veterans Day 2009, hit the halfway mark this Veterans Day, and aims to finish on Veterans Day 2011. But why? He's raising money for wounded veterans and their families. This is a 1,370-per-day clip, which is pretty amazing. FInd out more about Dave at his website hoopsforheroes.com, where he's taking donations online (the money goes to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund), and he shoots in a local gym, in his driveway, and, on Veterans Day this year, on the aircraft carrier Intrepid in New York. NPR and WBUR/Boston's "Only a Game" did a couple of pieces on Dave's feat, and you can and should check them out here and here. As insane feats go, this one's pretty cool. (Thanks to "Only a Game" ace producer/reporter Doug Tribou for the link)
