If It Calms Them Down, Give Every Kid A Dog
-
A school in Florida is telling an autistic kindergarten student that he can't bring his service dog to school. The dog is not there to fetch things or guide the boy, but it's there to prevent him from running off and to calm down his meltdowns, plus it's trained to help him when he has seizures and helps him with spacial issues that make him wobbly on his feet. If he has a doctor's order, the school CAN make an accommodation. And then they'd probably get sued by the family of some kid with a dog allergy.
