Rich Person Wins Election Over Other Rich Person
-
One of the key issues that was used against the top Republican candidates in the election was the outrageous amount of money Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorina were spending, and the idea was that they were trying to "buy" their offices. Now, the truth: Whitman spent a fortune of her own money in her losing effort, but Jerry Brown's relatively tiny expenses were in reality boosted by huge spending by unions on anti-Whitman commercials. And Carly Fiorina? She was outspent by Barbara Boxer. No lie. So the Democrats had it both ways, painting the Republicans as rich fat cats buying the election while themselves spending the same way. Slick. (Los Angeles Times)
