That Job Stinks
-
A woman says she was fired by Staples for complaining to OSHA when they made her clean an overflowing toilet without protective gear. She asked for gear as outlined in the training program, the manager gave her only gloves and a bucket, and, yes, she got splashed. And then, with feces all over her, she got sent back to the checkout to work the register. She got suspended for allegedly giving a customer a Canadian penny in change, and then fired the day after OSHA issued a citation and penalty to the store, with the excuse that she allegedly sold an extended warranty on an ineligible item, as if they'd have a problem with selling an extended warranty on anything. The bottom line is that, yes, everyone ends up having to do jobs they don't want to do, but shouldn't they have, like, cheap protective suits and masks for people who have to clean up overflowing toilets?
