Bob Newhart, Of Course. And Don Rickles, And 'You Don't Have To Be Jewish'

Hey, look, it's the 50th anniversary (on May 1st) of the classic comedy album "Stan Freberg Presents The United States of America, Vol. 1: The Early Years." That was a seminal record, an influence on a lot of satirists. It reminds me not only of Freberg (who many of you have surely met at radio conferences; the guy's a legend) but of comedy albums, period: They don't make too many anymore, and some say the podcast has replaced the comedy album. If you were influenced by comedy albums in your youth, talk about them. You weren't alone. (Chicago Tribune)
