They Get Old Really Young Nowadays
-
A court is considering charging a 6-year-old boy with sexual assault for "playing doctor" with a 5-year-old girl (there's more graphic description of what he did in the article). It wouldn't be a criminal charge, but it would put the boy in the state child services system. The D.A. claims he's also grabbed the breasts of babysitters and rubbed his naked body on their legs, but the boy's lawyer says those allegations are "crazy." Either way, assuming this kid is strange and needs help, can a court step in and rule that he's committed a crime and should be sent to involuntary treatment? Is a 6-year-old capable of forming the thought process to deliberately commit sexual assault? (Wisconsin State Journal, Madison; Thanks to Jeff Katz at WXKS (Talk 1200)/Boston for the link)
