Let's Go To Lake Hitler
-
The big debate seems to have reached an impasse in Minneapolis, where the attorney for the city parks department says that the board can't change Lake Calhoun's name to Lake Humphrey, and neither can the commissioner. In fact, nobody can. The reason some people wanted the change is because they say Calhoun was a slavery advocate. But too much water, no pun intended, has passed under that bridge, so no name change is happening. Think they should change the name? No? How would you answer if Calhoun was, say, a Nazi? A murderer? What's the circumstance and timing under which you'd change the name of a public place? (Minneapolis Star-Tribune)
