Nobody Seems To Be Able To Say No To A Rail Project
-
They're... okay, YOU'RE about to spend $1.2 billion of your money, through taxes, on a Central Florida commuter rail project nobody wants and nobody will ride. Even the feds expect it to serve no more than 2,150 commuters a day. It won't go to the Orlando airport or anyplace else anyone needs to go. So, why are we wasting the money? One Congressman is pushing it through (a Republican, although mostly Republicans oppose it), and it's widely suspected he's doing it to benefit the freight line that owns the rails. But if everyone knows this and everyone agrees it's a waste of money, WHY ARE THEY DOING IT? (New York Times)
