Whitey Bulger Understands

In 1979, a Chicago broker in trouble for gambling debts and possible organized crime affiliations, disappeared. His wife had him declared dead in 1986. And that was that, until now, when he's turned up alive and working in Las Vegas. He paid someone to establish a fake identity, took off, and ultimately ended up working at a casino sports book, which says volumes about casino employment practices. If you were under that kind of pressure, could you just up and leave your family and friends without so much as a goodbye and start over as someone else? (Chicago Tribune)
