Frozen In Place Since Late 2008

One problem that's happening now that wasn't a problem before the recession hit is that, unlike the way it was when you had people moving to where the jobs were, the cost of relocation has grown while companies are less and less willing to pay it. And those costs include selling your home in the old city, where you might very well be underwater on your mortgage. In many ways, people are stuck in place. And if you're in, say, Detroit, where the jobs have dried up and home values have plummeted, how do you get to someplace where your job prospects might be better? (USA Today)
