Dump The Bags, Take A Shower, And Go Look For Food

This column is about something that's evidently common: Travelers being disoriented and vulnerable in the first 24 hours in a new town. It's understandable: You're tired, you've been on a plane or train for a long time, and you're in unfamiliar territory. But I usually get hit with that in the SECOND 24 hours. When I've gone overseas, Day 1 (after a red-eye) is a flurry of activity in a vain attempt to reset my body clock. The second day is unconsciousness, sleeping all day. By the time I've acclimated, I have to go home. (New York Times)
