Amidst criticism on how they arrived at the downgrade, and how they factored political elements into their decision, Standard and Poor's is defending its decision and being defiant about it to the extent that they're threatening further downgrades. And THAT raises the question: How did S&P get that powerful? The other ratings services haven't downgraded the debt, so why is S&P's solo decision turning the world economy upside down?
