Here's another article about calorie counts on restaurant menus, and now that here in California it's been kicking in (the federal rule takes effect in 2012), it's been an eye-opener, not in a good way. A lot of stuff you've eaten and enjoyed happen to have a massive amount of calories and fat. And, yes, you DO take that into account. But it takes a lot of joy out of the occasion. It makes you not want to eat anything, because the good stuff is really high in calories. If that was the goal of the legislation, mission accomplished. (Los Angeles Times)
