The Future's Gonna Cost You
-
There are more and more apps allowing you to stream movies and music on your smartphone. And as they become more popular, the cell phone carriers are ending unlimited data plans, cutting the threshold way back and either charging you extra for more bandwidth or throttling you back speed-wise when you pass the limit (that they don't always define). You could say, well, they don't want the network to be overloaded. Or you could say that they're taking this opportunity to make everyone pay more for the data they've gotten you hooked on using. And both could be right. (New York Times)
