I Think Half-Empty Is Generous, Actually
-
In court, they've revealed what anyone could have told them: The embattled L.A. Dodgers are playing in a half-empty stadium. This is in stark contrast to most of the team's history in L.A., when they'd routinely draw crowds of well over 40,000. Wait, you say, they're announcing crowds of 32,000 to 40,000. But that's tickets allegedly sold, not turnstile count. They sold a lot of season tickets, but people aren't using them. And go to StubHub and see what tickets are going for these days; it isn't much. But it's not just the Dodgers. Are the actual attendance figures for your local teams the same as what they announce? Are people actually showing up? (Los Angeles Times)
