It's Harder To Qualify For Costco Membership

The fear people have about medical marijuana legalization is that it's a backdoor across-the-board legalization, and, in practice, it is. That's been the experience in places like California and, in this article, the state of Washington, where a reporter was able to get his authorization for medical marijuana for $200 without the need to provide medical records at Seattle's "Hempfest" pot celebration. It's become a joke: You go in, you sit with a "doctor," and you get your card to treat whatever nebulous "condition" you claim to have. And, you know, I'm not against legalizing pot at all, but if there's going to be a medical marijuana law, shouldn't it be for actual medical use? If you're suffering from intense pain, are you really in the same category as some stoner who claims to suffer from "anxiety"? (Seattle Times)
