Times Changed. The USPS Didn't
-
The U.S. Postal Service is close to bankrupt and could even close down. The big problem is in the union contracts; 80 PERCENT of the USPS' costs are for labor, as opposed to 32% at FedEx, and decades of giveaways to the unions have made it impossible for the USPS to compete. They HAVE to be allowed to get out from under those contracts, but there are political powers who will not let that happen without a fight. In the interim, there's little hope for a happy ending.
