I Guess You're Supposed To Just Know
-
A woman from outside the area was in Maine and driving along when she drove into the ocean and died. She was unfamiliar with the area and didn't realize the paved road ended at the water's edge. Which raises a question for me: What kind of area doesn't put up some kind of barrier at the end of a road that leads into the Atlantic Ocean? I assume there are signs, but they probably weren't big enough, and, judging by the photos, there's really nothing there to alert someone that the road is about to disappear. It's not even like a boat launch; it just goes on as usual with a double yellow line, and then, suddenly, there's no road. It's crazy. Why aren't there barriers? (WMTW-TV/Portland, ME)
