This Is Necessary... Why?

Here comes Near Field Communications. Near what? This is a holy grail for some tech types, and Google Wallet is the first big move in America towards this: It's how you'll pay for everything with your cell phone. You'll have all your credit cards in there, and debit, and instead of swiping, you'll whip out your smartphone, punch in a PIN, bump the phone by a box by the register, and there you go. But will you feel comfortable with everything on your phone? Will you be unable to pay for anything if your battery runs out? Does anyone other than the banks and tech people really want this?
