At Least It's Not The Identical Twin Defense

That escaped convicted murderer from New Jersey caught after 41 years in Portugal has an interesting claim to prevent beig extradited: He has a new fake identity. He fled the U.S. for Guinea-Bissau in Africa, where the Marxist government gave him political asylum and granted him a new name and identity (complete with phony parents' names on his papers). He then went to Portugal, married a citizen, and claims that it prevents him from extradition. Clever. Doesn't make him not a murderer, though. And wouldn't keep him out of jail -- he'll have to serve in Portugal, but he'd prefer that. (Newark Star-Ledger)
