You Can't Hear Me Now
-
Why does it seem like you can't hear everything somebody's telling you on the cell phone? Is it because of lousy carrier service? Maybe, but it could also be because cell phones cut off the highest-pitched ranges of our voices. The study says your brain reacts to certain higher frequencies to extract important information, and by cutting those off, your brain has to work harder to process the information. No, I don't understand entirely either, But that's what they say, and you can use it as an excuse the next time you forget something that somebody tells you on the phone. (Discovery via MSNBC)
