This story about a cyclist who was killed in a hit-and-run accident is notable because other cyclists say that he was killed by a driver who deliberately buzzed him. Whoever it was knocked the cyclist off his bike and took off. There's no excuse for that. On the other hand, though, there is a comment by his writing partner that the two were riding abreast, indicating that one of them was in the traffic lane. I see this a lot, because where I live is a popular area for cyclists, and they do ride at times as if they, and nobody else, own the road. When it's just two bicyclists, there's no reason they can't go single file. Doing it side-by-side doesn't make them "easier to see," as they claim. It just makes them more likely to get hit by a car.
