You know not to open spam, and you know not to open attachments to unfamiliar e-mail. But there are new perils for computer users, namely malicious ads on top commercial websites. Scammers are getting good at buying ads on legitimate websites that appear to be legitimate themselves, but if you click on them, you get taken to websites that trap you unless you pay them a ransom. Of course, there is a solution: ad blockers. But if everybody uses ad blockers, how are websites going to be able to make money? (USA Today via ABC News)
