Your Mattress Isn't Adding Fees, And The Savings Interest Rate's About The Same
-
Everybody's upset about the debit card fees, and they're happy that the banks have pulled back. But nobody seems to have noticed that the banks have quietly instituted new fees all over the place to make up the difference. For example, if you lose your debit card, the Bank of America now charges $5 for the replacement. Some banks charge for that cool thing where you deposit checks by taking pictures of them with your cell phone. They're slipping fees in where there have been no fees before, hoping you won't notice. And even if you do, where are you going to go? They're all doing it. Even credit unions aren't entirely fee–free. (New York Times)
