Every Road Will Be A Toll Road
-
The concern about the increasing interest in pay-per-mile driving taxes to raise money for whatever your elected officials want to spend it on... er, for road improvements is that it'll kill off the traditional American road trip. If you know it's going to cost you for every mile you put on the car, you'll be hesitant to drive anywhere for any reason, let alone on a long road trip. It's that thing about unlimited versus pay-as-you-go for anything -- even if you'd pay less in the long run, you still won't like having that pressure. That, of course, is what proponents want -- they want you not to be driving, for "green" reasons, but that would suck, wouldn't it? (CNN via WKMG-TV/Orlando)
