They KNOW This Looks Bad. They Just Don't Care At All (UPDATE: They Do Care)
-
The question that arises from this story is whether a company really HAS to stick to a policy or whether they choose to hide behind it. We're talking here about US Airways, which sold a woman who had beaten cancer five tickets for her family to travel to Belize on a dream trip. And then her doctor told her she had a recurrence, it was stage 4, she's dying, and she can't travel. Refund? Bwa-HA-HA-HA-HA-ha-ha-ha. Did you even READ this item? US Airways! Of COURSE they're doing the wrong thing! They won't go further than offer a waiver of change fees and a discount voucher that the woman obviously can't use, considering SHE'S DYING. US Airways is within its legal right to hew to the letter of their policies. And the rest of us are within our right to think that this airline is just acting amorally. Refund! (Todd Starnes, Fox News Radio) UPDATE: They relented and gave her the refund. They did the right thing. They should have right off the bat. (WUSA-TV/Washington)
