Sure, a lot of people, many with no other option, are starting home businesses. But something they never mention when you look into doing it yourself is that your landlord may not allow it, and the city may not, either. If you're lucky, they won't catch you. Or if you're in my situation, you live in a town where there's a basic, easily-determined business license fee and, otherwise, they don't bother you. If you're not lucky, you live someplace that makes you register and pay -- taxes, license fees, fictitious name registration -- and follow arcane regulations to the letter. But it's STILL better in many ways than working in someone else's office.
