It's tough to get a job. It's tougher if you think that employers eliminate you as soon as they can tell you're black. Some applicants scrub any references that even hint of their race, like middle names and memberships in certain groups, to try and get past the prejudice. That sucks, but I think it's not restricted to race. Employers don't want to see ANY deviation from plain vanilla; if there's a sign you're in any way different, from race to disability to past illness to religion, they'll pass rather than take any "chance" at all.
