Raise Your Hands If You're Sure
-
Utah is considering changing its marriage laws in two ways: encouraging counseling beforehand and offering discounts if you do go to counseling, and, more provocatively, a three-day waiting period between when you get the license and when you can get legally married. On the latter, I'm of two minds. First, what business is it of the state whether you get married immediately or later? But on the other hand, If you're in such a hurry, why? I remember getting our license a few days before the actual wedding day; it wasn't that big a deal. But I don't like the idea that the state is getting involved.
