Two Buck Chuck, Two Hundred Buck Chuck... It's All The Same To Me
-
A top wine dealer is being accused of selling counterfeit wine at auction. They say he sold at least 84 bottles of Domaine Ponsot that were fake, as well as another bottle from the same vintner that was claimed to be a 1929 vintage but the vineyard didn't start estate bottling until 1934. And that brings me to the more general question: Do people really know the difference? I mean, you pour them a wine worth $200 a bottle and another worth $50 and can they tell $150 worth of difference? Even in blind testing? (New York Times)
