Here's another chapter in the Overprotective Parents Story: When a baby's on the way, some parents hire consultants to purge all household toxins from their fashionable Upper East Side apartments. Not just household cleaners, either; all plastics, everything that might have chemicals in them (lipstick? Out!)... it's extreme. Can you really raise a kid in a bubble like that? By eliminating everything, are you making your kid someone who'll be unable to handle everyday smells and conditions in the real world? (New York Times)
