Here's a reminder to check your cell phone bill carefully for premium text scams. That's when suddenly someone charges you $9.95 per month and claims you signed up for the service, which is usually about something like video game cheat codes. And the cell phone carriers treat you like you're lying, even though this happens all the time. There's one way to avoid this: Block all short-code texting on your phone. You won't be able to vote on "American Idol," but at least they won't be able to argue that you signed up for that phony service. (WEWS-TV/Cleveland)
