The Golden Glow Of Prosperity
-
The oil boom in North Dakota has brought a lot of trucks to the local roads. And with those trucks has come another boom: "trucker bombs" all over the roadsides. What's a "trucker bomb" That's a discarded bottle of pee. You know how long-haul drivers will use a water jug (or, preferably, a Snapple bottle with a wide-mouth opening) when they need to go and don't want to stop driving? Yeah, those. Out there in the middle of nowhere, there really isn't anyplace else to go, not even behind a tree. And the state doesn't have the money to build more rest stops. "Membership in the state's Adopt-a-Highway program has dropped in the area, and the jugs of urine may be partly to blame," the article says, and you can't blame anyone for not wanting to pick up those bottles, especially since they can explode in the heat.
