We know that kids have more information at their fingertips, literally, than ever. But is it wise, as some teachers are suggesting, that we do away with teaching a lot of facts because they can look facts up on their smartphones? Should they be taught just vocational and social skills and reasoning and skip the rest? Seems insane to me; Having to rely on technology for information that should be part of your core knoledge bank is ridiculous. But a lot of educators look at kids as things on which to experiment.
