It's A Triple-A Conspiracy, I Tells Ya

This car columnist notes a disturbing trend in new cars: They don't include spare tires with many new cars anymore. We're not talking donut tires instead of full-size tires, we're talking ANY spare. You get a flat, you're going to need a tow. This is happening because manufacturers say taking the spare out lightens the car and improves gas mileage so they can meet government standards, and because it saves on gas costs. But all you need is one flat and the savings are gone. Would you buy a car without a spare? (Philadelphia Inquirer)
