Fanboys believe Google when it says that its corporate credo is to Do No Evil. The problem is that Google is, really, just another company, and it appears to do things like favor its own affiliates and divisions in search results, block people from using Google Ads for no stated reason and with no recourse, and amass an enormous amount of personal information about you with the vague promise that they'll not use it for harm. Oh, and they overlooked the whole "human rights" thing when it came time to doing business in China. "Evil" is relative.
