Research proves what you've suspected: Food snobs like different tastes than the rest of us. You like sweet and salty; they like umami and bitter. The question is whether they have more educated palates or whether they just like stuff that most people think tastes like used sweat socks (assuming you know what they taste like). Me? I think that the people who rhapsodize over braised quail entrails over fennel and bok choy might be faking. That CAN'T taste better than an In-and-Out double-double or a bucket of KFC. It CAN'T.
