Nobody Loves A Tattle-Tale
-
600 people living on a Greek island filed for, and received, government disability benefits for being blind. They weren't blind. And now the public is angry at the whistleblower, a local mayor who's being subjected to a revolt. That's because the society there has developed into one where work-for-pay is just not accepted and money-for-nothing (in the form of government handouts) is what generations are growing up to expect. If you want to understand how Greece ended up teetering on insolvency, you need to start there before you can see the folly of giving the Greek government loans it was never going to be able to repay.
