Next Time, We're REALLY Going To Give You A Stern Warning

How many work-related problems must one have before one gets fired? This school janitor has been written up 29 times for various problems, mostly involving his reluctance to show up on time and to fix things when asked. And he remains employed. Why? Something called "progressive discipline," a theory under which a repeat offender gets a light punishment, then each infraction gets progressively harsher punishment. When will they get around to, you know, ACTUAL punishment? Thanks to Jeff Katz at WFTL/Ft. Lauderdale-West Palm Beach for the link.
