There's Still No There There
-
This article discusses whether the economics of sports has made it impossible for Oakland to keep its teams. Oakland's image doesn't help, and the inability of the city to finance new parks and the undesirability of having the stadiums in East Oakland where they are now -- it's not the nicest area, to say the least -- has all three teams there longing for new locations, with the Warriors already in the process of building an arena in San Francisco, the A's trying -- and failing -- to get the Giants to let them move to San Jose, and the Raiders always hinting about moving back to L.A. Can a city like Oakland stay major league when there are greener pastures elsewhere? (Oakland Tribune)
