Your Teachers Are A Touch Audience
-
A group of high school students in Maplewood, New Jersey are in trouble because, in their annual comedy show, they did a parody of a teacher, and that teacher took offense. The teacher is African-American, and she was portrayed in stereotypical fashion. However, the students doing the portrayal is also African-American. So, is it racist if it's a black student doing the material? If it's comedy, can you excuse the stereotype? And should teachers be above parody, or should they try to be good sports, whatever the portrayal? (Newark Star-Ledger)
