Truth Is Secondary

The Los Angeles Times did a story about the bad financial situation in Stanton, California. And in writing the article, the reporter wanted to paint the city has a suburban wasteland, so she talked about how it doesn't have anything going on there, including no "fancy restaurants." The problem with that comment is that one of Orange County's best restaurants, highly rated in all the guidebooks and considered one of the best in the region, just happens to be in Stanton. So, no problem, they can just retract that part, right? No, the reporter refuses to change it, because it doesn't fit her narrative. The restaurant is upset, and the Orange County Register is taking shots at the Times for refusing to budge. This story, really, is a reminder that you can't always believe everything you read in the papers. If the reporter or the paper has an agenda, they won't let facts get in the way.
