I don't much care about this story, in which someone from "Jersey Shore" was able to plead to a lesser charge of "failing to use the sidewalk" after allegedly blocking traffic while drunkenly dancing in the street in Seaside Heights. I don't even know who she is (not Snooki or J-WOWW? Then I don't know you), and I don't care (Snooki, J-WOWW, or anyone else? I STILL don't care). It's just that the writer of this item pulls out a particular New Jersey stereotype: "Joisey." Because everyone in New Jersey sounds like an extra on "The Sopranos," you see. I wonder if people assume that because of "Jersey Shore" (populated by people from New York). Now, I'm a New Jersey native and grew up there, and it's true that some people have the heavy accent, but it's not that prevalent. And nobody says "Joisey." It really is a nice place to live, work, play, and grow up. And real New Jersey people don't go to Seaside (except for Marucca's or Three Brothers Pizza on the boardwalk); That's for people from Queens and Brooklyn, where even THEY don't say "Joisey." Although they DO talk funny. (And I'm not moving back, so there's a limit, I suppose, to my defense of the place) (USA Today)
