Where's That List Of Things We're Not Allowed To Joke About Again?
-
People involved with, or affected by, ALS are protesting a joke in "Ted" in which Mark Wahlberg tells the teddy bear, "From one man to another, I hope you get Lou Gehrig's disease." They say ALS is no joking matter. But neither is cancer, or heart attacks, or any other illness (or, for that matter, genocide), yet there have always been jokes referring to all of those. And this joke isn't making fun of the disease, it's making fun of the way the characters insult each other, wishing the worst on each other (in a Boston accent, of course). Is there any topic that SHOULD be off limits for comedy? Why? (ABC News)
