'Whoops, Sorry' Doesn't Cut It

Air traffic controllers at Reagan National Airport nearly had three commuter planes colliding, sending two of them to take off directly in the path of one landing at the same time. The three carried 192 passengers and crew members who were all almost killed because the people in the tower got "confused." This is the same airport where a controller fell asleep on the job, and where takeoffs and landings are restricted to a narrow course because a) it's near the White House, Capitol, and Pentagon, and b) it's in a narrow strip by the river. So maybe they might want to make some changes in who they hire and how they're trained. (Washington Post)
