Technology has enabled a new wave of people who like to listen to police scanners and report on what's happening via Twitter. That's because you can do it all with your cell phone. Scanner audio streams, you can hear something happening, go and take a picture, and tweet it, all with one pocket device. It's changing crime reporting. That can be a good or bad thing -- bad in that unedited and possibly not credible information can get out, but good in that it's way more immediate, and when the source is ethical and credible, it's better than any crime reporting you can get from the newspaper, TV, or (dare I say it) radio.
