Which Leaves Countless Other Schools And Businesses Yet To Apologize
-
Emory University is profusely apologizing for its virulent anti-Semitism at its dental school in 1948 through 1961. During that period, when Dean John E. Buhler was there, During that period, 65% of Jewish students were failed or forced to repeat courses, and were subjected to "dirty Jew" comments from professors and accusations of cheating. What's interesting is that since then, the school has had a large Jewish student population and the shame was uncovered when they were reviewing the period as part of assembling a celebration of Jewish life on campus for an exhibit. Is an apology good enough after all these years? How did something like this, like the open racism of the era, happen? How did people ignore it? How do you look the other way when this stuff is going on? (CNN)
