I'd Call For Someone To Save Your Life, But I Can't Afford It
-
Jim Thorpe, PA wants people who call for emergency help to pay for the privilege of, say, having the fire department come out to put out your fire. The reason is that the area is a tourist region, and they're tired of out-of-towners calling for help to deal with emergencies like car crashes and fires, and then leaving the locals to pay for it through taxes. And that may make sense, but does that make people hesitate to call 911 when there's a NEED to call 911? (WFMZ-TV/Allentown)
