They Have Their Priorities
-
The Los Angeles Unified School District wanted to apply for a grant of $40 million of federal funds in the Race to the Top program, but they won't be getting a dime. Turned down? Nope, they didn't get that far. Why? Because the teachers union refused to sign off on the application. And they refused because they're upset that they'll be judged by student achievement and not a convoluted and impossible-to-understand formula that might make them look better. In other words, the union is putting the teachers' salaries and bonuses over the students' needs. Remember that the next million times teachers invoke how much they care about the kids.
