Never Enough Luxury Boxes

Well, of COURSE NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell says he wants a new stadium for the Atlanta Falcons. Why wouldn't he? He isn't going to pay for it? When asked why taxpayers should pay for it, he only said "they do need a new stadium." Yes, but why shouldn't the Falcons, owned by the very rich Arthur Blank and a business that makes a lot of money, pay for it all themselves instead of insisting that taxpayers finance at least the first $300 million, not to mention the infrastructure? Because taxpayers are suckers, just like they were when the Georgia Dome was built (didn't think you'd have to build another one so soon, didja?). And because all Blank has to do is cast his eyes towards Los Angeles or London or anyplace else they don't have a team and the locals will cave. Nobody wants another Seattle Supersonics situation in their town. (Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
